LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 December 2025

These Terms apply to your use of the LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne website, social media spaces, and participation in any events or activities hosted by us (“the services”).

By accessing our website, joining our online spaces, or attending our events, you agree to these Terms.

Purpose of the Hub
LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne exists to create safe, welcoming, in-person social and wellbeing spaces for LGBT+ adults in Melbourne.

Events may include social mixers, singles events, themed parties, and wellbeing-oriented activities. Some events are facilitated by a mental health professional, but the Hub is not a therapy service and events are not a substitute for individual mental health care.

Eligibility
Our services are intended for:

  • LGBT+ adults
  • aged 18 years or older
  • living in or able to attend events in Melbourne

This is not an online-only community. Participation assumes an intention to attend in-person events.

We reserve the right to decline or revoke participation where these criteria are not met.

Community Values & Behaviour Expectations
We are committed to providing a space where people feel safe, respected, and welcome.

By participating, you agree to the following:

Respect & Inclusion

  • Discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, body size, age, gender, sexuality, or identity will not be tolerated.
  • Treat everyone with kindness and respect, both online and in person.

Consent & Boundaries

  • Do not touch anyone at in-person events without their clear, enthusiastic consent.
  • Do not send unsolicited private messages to other participants.
  • Respect verbal and non-verbal boundaries at all times.

Safety & Conduct

  • Bullying, intimidation, coercion, or degrading comments are not allowed.
  • Behaviour that makes others feel unsafe, pressured, or uncomfortable may result in removal from an event or the community.

These expectations apply across all spaces, including:

  • events
  • social media
  • direct messages related to the Hub

Enforcement & Removal
We reserve the right to:

  • refuse entry to an event
  • ask someone to leave an event
  • remove access to online spaces
  • decline future participation

This may occur without refund where behaviour breaches these Terms or undermines community safety.

Decisions are made with the wellbeing of the wider community in mind.

Event Participation & Responsibility
You attend events at your own discretion and are responsible for:

  • your own physical and emotional wellbeing
  • managing your alcohol or substance use (where applicable)
  • seeking appropriate professional support outside events if needed

While events are hosted with care and intention, we cannot guarantee the behaviour of other attendees.

Mental Health Disclaimer
Some events are hosted or facilitated by a mental health professional; however:

  • events are social or wellbeing-oriented, not clinical services
  • no diagnosis, treatment, or crisis support is provided
  • participation does not create a therapist–client relationship

If you require mental health support, we encourage you to seek appropriate professional or emergency services.

Photography & Media
From time to time, photos may be taken at events for promotional purposes. We aim to respect privacy and will not knowingly publish identifying images of attendees without consent. We will clearly indicate when photography may occur. You may opt out at any time by notifying the host.

Third-Party Platforms
Events and communications may be managed via third-party platforms such as Facebook, Meetup, Humanitix, or Eventbrite. Use of these platforms is subject to their own terms and policies.

Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally to reflect changes in events, community needs, or legal requirements. Updated Terms will be posted on our website.
